The Cyclades Islands are the most well known of the Greek Islands and include Santorini and Mykonos (two of the most popular islands in Greece). While both are lovely islands and should be on your “to-do” list, SEADREAM also offers you the experience of visiting the less “touristy” less crowded Greek harbors and villages.
Sifnos, for example, is relatively undeveloped outside of the main port. Some of the best beaches in the Cyclades are found here. The island’s main village is on a mountain overlooking the bay and is one of the most spectacular villages in the Cyclades. You’ll be charmed by the scenic whitewashed homes, the pottery workshops and the traditional taverns found here.
Paros, in the Cyclades is a popular stop for island travelers. Between miles of golden, sandy beaches are rugged cliffs and dramatic rock formations, evidence of the island’s volcanic birth. SEADREAM calls on the tiny, idyllic
fishing village of Naousa. The main street is lined with cafes buzzing with summer vacationers. Paros is famous with windsurfing enthusiasts. The Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA) holds the annual World Cup at New Golden Beach. It is the only professional race in Greece.
The Dodecanese islands are located in the southeast part of the Aegean Sea and consist of twelve major islands and a number of smaller islands. These islands have been elected by SEADREAM because they are perfect for those who seek an escape from the crowded, main-stream Greek holiday.
Patmos, in the Dodecanese Islands is quiet and known for its great beaches and landscape. This is where the Apocalypse of John, or Revelations was written. Visit the monastery of Saint John the Theologian above Skala and the Monastery of the Apocalypse built around the cave where John had his vision of the end of time.
Another lesser known, SEADREAM favorite, is Paxoi. The island is located eight nautical miles south of Corfu. This lush green island has just over 2,000 inhabitants. Tourism and fishing are their main industries. The capital of the island is the beautiful port of Gaios. Known for wonderful sunsets and olive orchards, this is a Greek paradise.
Perfect for SeaDreamers, Parga is a picturesque small town on the north-western coast of Greece. Parga is situated in a sheltered bay and its houses climb the mountainside. It is nestled between lush green hills and the clear waters of the Ionian Sea. In summer, Parga’s streets are alive with tourists mingling in the narrow passages and coffee shops. Although it’s on the mainland, it’s got an island-feeling to it.
