many attractions of Northern Corsica including its scenic landscapes, charming Bastia, an exciting drive along the scenic Teghime pass and a taste of Corsica’s wines.

This excursion will be a combination by foot and coach. During this tour you will discover the old town and the proud citadel, the cathedral Ste Marie, the governor palace and the old port.

Nowadays Bastia is the main town of north Corsica, and also the biggest commercial port of the island. Under the Genoese administration, Bastia was the capital of the whole island, and was very rich thanks the numerous vines, olives & chestnut trees plantations. Being also the nearest port to Italy, the town became an important trading call.

While walking through the narrow streets, you will soon discover some signs of a rich and interesting past. Pass through the square St Nicolas, the meeting point of all the population.

You will pass the Terra Vecchia which goes from the place St Nicolas to the old port, through un-regular paved streets, passing nice little chapels and oratorio in baroque style like the Oratoire St Roch, or the ‘flamboyant’ Oratoire de l’Immaculée conception, arriving at the church St Jean Baptiste famous for its twin campaniles. Back on the coach, you will reach Erbalunga, located 9km from Bastia yet a world away. This cosy fishing village have been the inspiration for numerous painters and poets. Following a brief introduction to the village, free time will be allocated to browse its picturesque narrow streets which are closed to traffic. Return to Bastia and the yacht.

Notes:
This land adventure includes moderate amounts of walking, as well as steep roads, cobblestone, uneven pavement and steps. Flat, comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended. The drive across to the Nebbio region includes some “high road” twists & turns, and is not for the fainthearted. The order of the sights visited may vary. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity. This program is booked onboard only so please make your reservations as soon as possible after boarding to avoid disappointment. Taking its name from the thick mist which sweeps over the region, the Nebbio has for centuries been one of the most fertile parts of the island. Formerly called ‘Conca d’oro’ (golden shell) by Pascal Paoli, it is now reputed for its very nice wines from Patrimonio.

Along the drive, magnificent views will come to your eyes, down the St Florent’s gulf and the Patrimonio’s vineyards on one side, and the Tyrrhenian sea & Biguglia’s pond on the other side. Leave the town in direction of our little St Tropez: St Florent. Drive along the Biguglia pond, to the San Stefano pass, through Oletta and its multi-coloured houses.

In St Florent, enjoy a visit and stroll through the narrow streets bordered by souvenirs shops. Then, leave St Florent in direction of the mountain of the Patrimonio region, reputed to be the best place for wines.

Stop in one of the local cellars for a wine tasting, and discover their white, rosé or maybe a sweet muscat! Passing the Teghime pass, you will be back in Bastia.

Guests are advised that the scenic portion of the itinerary include some narrow, winding roads, therefore is not recommended to passengers who suffer from vertigo and motion sickness.
