Would you like to take on a fun and exciting workout in a spectacular tropical setting high above the island of Ilhabela? Recently (November 2006) we tried out this new offering on the island and loved it! As long as you enjoy being physically active, you will be energized by the several challenges you will be faced with, all about 30 feet above the jungle ground. A scenic 25 minute drive on the back of a open-air 4 x 4 vehicle will take you up into the jungle covered mountains high above Ilhabela (607 feet/185 meters above sea level). Once you arrive at your destination, you first notice the stunning views over the island, including the Atlantic Rain Forest, the mainland of Brazil and the scenic channel separating the two. Then, you will be fitted with your safety equipment before you start this really fun and unique way to challenge yourself. You start out with a zip line ride into the forest. Then make your way through the jungle on a number of unique balancing challenges at tree level. Instructors will lead you as you cross suspended logs, a net, barrel tunnel, tightrope and several more fun challenges before you take one more exciting zip line ride. If you are ready to face one more challenge, there is also the rock-climbing wall named “Blood, Sweat and Tears.” At the end of your “workout,” you have the opportunity to take a dip in the pool (bring a towel and your swimsuit, changing rooms, restrooms and a shower are available). A choice of natural juices, water and coffee is included before you make your way back to the pier. Not convinced yet? Do you want to see what it is like? Better yet bring your friends and don’t forget your camera, especially any video camera you may have along with you. Notes: In order to participate on this adventure, you must be physically fit, not be afraid of heights and a good sense of balance is also helpful. We recommend that you wear long pants (they may get a dirty), a t-shirt (that will get sweaty!) and tennis shoes or similar boots (they may get muddy). You are exercising in a jungle setting so bring some insect repellant and protection from the sun is highly recommended. You will be provided with all the safety equipment including a helmet and gloves that must be worn. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity. This program is booked onboard only so please make your reservations as soon as possible after boarding to avoid disappointment. All adventures and prices in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures program are subject to change without notice. The price is subject to increase based on the exchange rates of the Brazilian Reais against the US Dollar. Not all of the land adventures will be offered on all visits and departure times are subject to change. Additional land adventures and/or updated information, pricing and departure times will be mailed to our guests with the documentation package sent approximately 30 days prior to embarkation, under the "Yachting Land Adventures" tab. Final pricing and departures times will be published onboard. Price : USD 79    Ilhabela, Brazil Duration: 0 hours A tropical but mountainous island, called on frequently by luxury yachts. There are several interesting colonial buildings in the village of Vila Ilhabela and the entire island is a very popular resort area for Brazilians (mostly from Sao Paulo which can be reached, by car, in about 2.5 hours). The island also features some beautiful beaches, interesting shopping and bike paths that hug the beautiful western shoreline. SeaDream will be at anchor in the narrow and scenic channel between the green mountains of the mainland to the west and the jungle covered hills of Ilhabela to the east. Once ashore, just steps from the pier you find some charming shops, a small ice cream shop (don’t miss it) and an interesting bookshop. If you wish to be active, take out one of our mountain bikes for a ride along the beautiful shores of Ilhabela. The main road, stretching north and south from the pier, winds mostly flat, along some quite beaches, summer homes and beautiful scenery. Bring a towel and stop at one of the beaches for a swim. Your onboard Club & Activities Director can arrange some other activities, including a spectacular 10-minute helicopter flight and diving. There are also a very limited number of 2-passenger scooters and 4-passenger buggies for rent. Do book early, as there is a very limited supply.
