If you like your Azores a bit more rugged and enjoy exploring places from beyond the paved roads, this off-road adventure, limited to a small group of passengers, is for you! Crossing small streams and old tracks, discovering crystal clear streams and taking in the dramatic vistas, all combine to making this day a most memorable experience. As you discover the Island of "Sao Miguel" your vehicle suited, for the island's rugged terrain, takes you up into the mountains passing stunningly beautiful and unique panoramas; naturally several photo stops are made along your route. The ruggedness of the high mountains, covered with trees indigenous to the area, the flora and other varieties of vegetation contrast charmingly with the softness of the sparkling clean streams and small villages. So roll down the windows of our vehicle, soak in the clear & fresh air and don't be surprised if you feel lost in time!

If you enjoy exploring beyond the paved roads and even beyond the 4x4 tracks, we have yet one more intimate option for you. A brief 20-minute drive takes you out into the enchanting and unforgettable landscape of SU£o Miguel Island. During this approximately two-hour ride through the beautiful and typical Azorean landscape your guide and horse will lead you along old paths, stonewalls while passing the picturesque farmlands and villages. Climb up to fantastic viewpoints through what almost seem rainforest like jungle. Your ride commences and concludes at the stables in a small town with pure & cross Lusitano Horses; an ancient Portuguese horse breed. Helmets will be provided and an instructor will accompany the group.

Joining this land adventure allows you to experience two distinctly different sites; the charming little town of Ribeira Grande and the dramatic scenery of and around Fire Lake. Ribeira Grande, built along a river by the first settlers arriving in the beginning of the 16th century is picturesquely located on a volcanic plateau above the sea. It offers a charming historic centre, whose narrow streets deserve a moment of your time as you walk along its cobblestone streets. Soak in the pretty examples of urban architecture from the 17th and 18th centuries, including the Town hall, with its impressive exterior stairs and the parish church of EspU­rito Santo from the 17th century with its sumptuous facade; one of the most attractive Baroque structures in the archipelago. Continue along mountain roads to the summit of Pico da Barrosa Mountain, offering stunning views of the Fire Lake, said to be one of the most beautiful of the island's lakes. On the return to Ponta Delgada, take in views of the western part of the Island with over 100 small volcanoes. Before reaching Ponta Delgada, stop at "Ceramica Vieira" pottery factory in the village of Lagoa producing the lovely hand painted glazed tile panels in predominately blue patterns. Of course, shopping is allowed. Come on out and explore!

About an hour outside of San Juan lies the magical world of El Yunque Rain Forest. Part of Puerto Rico's Caribbean National Forest, it is one of the few tropical rain forests under the U.S. flag. Enjoy beautiful sites such as "La Coca Falls" (the fountain of youth) and the natural pool. A visit to the information center gives you an appreciation of the forest. View a variety of plants such as elephant ears, a diversity of ferns and splendid Mahogany trees. Also, you have an option to take a trail independently through the forest. Marvel at giant hardwoods, bamboo groves, miniature orchids, colossal tree snails and tropical ferns over 40 feet tall. Perhaps you might spot the endangered Puerto Rican parrot on your way. Your walk ends at the information center; ponder the secrets of the rainforest while refreshing yourself with a cold drink.

Buckle up as your helicopter takes off from the helipad and whirls away for a 30-minute tour over Old San Juan and the Puerto Rican countryside. Your narrated flight proceeds west bound to enjoy a panoramic view over Old San Juan. Then turn southbound to explore the mountainous regions of Puerto Rico. Soar up the peaks of Cordillera Central - the highest elevation on the island. See the area called San Cristobal Canyon, which is considered one of the islands most beautiful locations with its walls, waterfalls, and jungle like foliage.
