Bergen Bergen is the second largest city in Norway. The city was one of nine European cities honoured with the title of European Capital of Culture in the Millennium year.
Geiranger Geiranger is a small tourist village in Sunnmore. It lies at the head of the Geirangerfjord, which is a branch of the Storfjord. Geiranger is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, and has been named the best travel destination in Scandinavia by Lonely Planet.
Olden, Nordfjord Olden is a village located at the mouth of the Oldeelva river in the Oldedalen valley along the Nordfjord. The Briksdalsbreen glacier, a popular hiking destination, is located about 25 kilometres (16 mi) south of Olden, at the end of the Oldedalen valley.
Alesund The town of Aalesund has a spectacular setting across several small islands. A viking town from the 9th Century, it was almost totally destroyed by fire in 1904. With the help of the German emperor, Wilhelm II, a great friend of Norway, the town center area was rebuilt as a harmonious collection of pastel buildings almost all in the Art Nouveau style. Aalesund was recently voted the most beautiful town in Norway. From Aalesund there are some great water-based tour possibilities such as rafting, fishing and high-speed RIB tours.
Flaam, Sognefjord
Gudvangen, Sognefjord Gudvangen is a village in the municipality of Aurland in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It is a popular tourist destination and is located at the end of the Naeroyfjord where the Naeroydalselvi river empties into the fjord.
Cruising
Sunndal, Hardangerfjord
Lillesand Lillesand is a town and municipality in Aust-Agder county, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Sorlandet.
Stavanger Your SeaDream yacht docks right in the center of this city; the cradle of the Vikings, where Harald Haarfagre (Fairhair) became king of all Norway in 872. Great for strolling, the lovely market place and "Old Stavanger", a cluster of old small white wooden house, are close by the dock. The landscape varies from fjords to steep mountains such as the Lysefjord and the Pulpit Rock, just an hour's boat tour from the city center. Stavanger is also the oil capital of Norway where much of the support for the North Sea oil fields is based. The Petroleum Museum on the waterfront tells the story of this offshore oil adventure.
Rosendal, Hardangerfjord The Rosendal Manor House from 1665 gives a fascinating glimpse into the period when Norway was under Danish rule. In 1658, a destitute Danish noble by the name of Ludvig Rosenkrantz struck it lucky in marrying Karen Mowat, Norway's richest hieress. Her money was soon put to use building the Rosendal Manor House in a stunning setting between mountain and fjord. Today, the Manor House and the gardens from 1850 are a living museum. Prior to dinner onboard this evening, we will enjoy a tour of the Manor House and a short concert in the Red Room.
Oslo At the head of the Oslofjord, almost 60 miles from the open sea, lies Norway's capital city, Oslo. Sailing up the fjord we may pass come of the giant ferries that connect Oslo with Denmark and Germany. The first sight that greets us as we sail into the harbour are the impressive walls and towers of Akershus fortress right above the dock and a stones-throw from the city center. The oldest parts of the fortress date from around 1300 although Oslo was established as a Viking settlement 300 years earlier. Today, it is a compact city closely surrounded by mountains and forests. In the winter you can take the tram up to the ski fields. Oslo has a great collection of museums and the eye-popping and unique Vigeland sculpture park with hundreds of larger-than-life granite nudes. Relax at the Aker Brygge waterside restaurant area a short stroll from the dock where you can watch the boat traffic in the harbour and the promenading population. On a nice evening, everyone in town appears to be out
Marstrand With it's island setting and relaxed air, Marstrand conveys the essence of the fishing villages that dot the west coast of Sweden. It's white-painted wooden buildings house a population of about 1,500....but that is in the winter. In the summer the town buzzes with boats and summer guests. It has become an upmarket destination for sailors and city-slickers alike and is the center for sailing on Sweden's west coast
Copenhagen Copenhagen has been the capital of Denmark for quite a few years....form 1417, to be precise. Despite being the capital, it is not a very big city, with a population of just over 1 million. It is a friendly and laid-back city with most of the sights compressed within the central "Slotsholmen" (castle island) area. You will find your SeaDream yacht docked close to the city center within walking distance of the much-photgraphed Nyhavn canal-side restaurant area and the famous "Little Mermaid" statue on the waterside. The medieval center of Copenhagen is great for strolling. Pass by the Tivoli Gardens and continue down the longest shopping street in Europe, the pedestrianised "Stroget". The modern, efficient airport of Kastrup is only about 6 miles out of the city center and transport to and from is very easy.
Flaam, Sognefjord

Flaam Valley By Train And Bike

The Flam railroad is one of the most interesting stretches of railroad engineering in the world. Only 12 miles in length it runs from sea level to Myrdal Station at an altitude of almost 3,000 feet. Leaving by train from the station situated in Flam at the head of the Aurlandsfjord, we travel along the Flam river, one of the best salmon-rivers in the West Country. On the right hand side is the Rjoande Waterfall with a sheer drop of 500 feet and the impressive peak of Vibmesnosi. After passing through the longest tunnel at Naali, a most fantastic sight is revealed. To climb the 300 m. high Myrdalsberg the line is built on 4 levels. From here we can view 3 of them, the train standing on the 4th. We can also see the old road that was constructed in 1895 96, in connection with the building of the Bergen Oslo Railroad that was opened in 1909. The road ascends the steep hills in 21 narrow hairpin bends with an attractive waterfall next to it. We will make a brief stop at Kjosfossen Waterfall to let all passengers off the train in order to photograph the spectacular waterfall. We stay on the train to the top at Myrdal and then travel back down to Berekvam station, over half way down the Flam Railway. Here you will leave the train where your bikes and equipment are waiting for you. Now we continue to Flam by bike. The downhill bike ride follows a narrow gravel road along the river with spectacular views of the waterfalls, mountains and valley. If you like you can even fill your water bottle from the river and streams along the way.

Notes Guests should be appropriately dressed and wear comfortable shoes like sneakers. It is recommended to bring a light back pack with bottled water and some wind/waterproof clothing. Helmet and bikes are provided. Max weight per person 150 kg. Guests must be able bikers and in physically capable of participating. Mountains And Rugged Valleys

Our tour begins in FlU¥m, a small village at the head of the Aurlandsfjord, one of the many arms of the Sognefjord. Here we take the FlU¥m train that in the course of a mere approx. 50 minutes brings us from sea level up to a height of nearly 3,000 feet with an ascent of 1 in 18 over a distance of only 12 miles. This railway line is a masterpiece of engineering. The line winds its way through the steep and narrow FlU¥msdalen Valley with several viewpoints where the train either stops or goes slowly " like at Kjosfossen Waterfall. High in the mountains at Myrdal there is a change of trains. As we approach the town of Voss, the landscape changes to that of a high mountain valley. After having enjoyed lunch in Voss we continue the tour by bus to Vinje, making a photo stop on the way at the Tvinne waterfall, that cascades down the cliff side. We pass through the hamlets Vinje and Oppheim with the idyllic Oppheims lake, past farms and orchards, lakes and rivers, before we arrive at the well known Stalheim Hotel, perched on a cliff with thundering waterfalls on either side that drop down to the valley floor. Near the hotel is the impressive open-air Stalheim Folk Museum consisting of buildings spanning a time period from the late middle ages through pre-war rural Norway. It offers a glimpses of the everyday life in rural Norway from the late middle ages. At Stalheim we have refreshments and can afterwards enjoy a spectacular view of the NU¦rU¸y valley from the terrace before we begin the descent of Stalheimskleivene Serpentine Road, Europe's steepest road with a drop of 1 in 5, 13 hairpin bends and a great view. We then proceed along the NU¦rU¸y river and arrive in Gudvangen to rejoin the yacht.

Notes Please wear comfortable walking shoes. A warm jacket is also recommended. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity. All adventures and prices in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures program are subject to change.

Geiranger

Geiranger's Famous Views

The Geirangerfjord is without doubt one of the most fascinating sights in Norway and was added to the Unesco World Heritage List in 2005. The mountains tower above us on both sides as we pass several waterfalls with stories to their names like the Suitor, the Bridal Veil and the Seven Sisters. At the landing stage in the village of Geiranger we start our tour along the fjord before suddenly the road starts winding up the mountainside in 11 hairpin bends. At the uppermost bend, called the Eagle's Bend, we stop to enjoy the view. In the distance we can see old farms, stubbornly clinging on narrow shelves high above the fjord. For generations families made their living up there, and today great efforts are being made to restore and preserve these relics of the past. We return through Geiranger village and continue up the mountainside, climbing higher and higher into the mountain world until we reach Mount Dalsnibba (5,000 ft.) From here " on a clear day - there is a panorama of mountains, glaciers, waterfalls and lakes, and far below you can see the Geirangerfjord. At Djupvasshytta lodge refreshments will be served before we return, and make a stop at the Flydals Gorge for the view of the fjord. On our way back to the village centre we will pass the small white painted octagonal church. Like most Norwegian buildings, it is constructed of wood.

Notes Please note that order of sights may vary. The road past Flydal and Djupvasshytta and the road to Mount Dalsnibba is closed in winter, and the time of opening in spring/early summer depends on the amount of snow in the mountains, and that the danger of avalanches is over. Usually these roads are open by the end of May, but this can not be guaranteed. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity. All adventures and prices in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures program are subject to change.

Kayaking On The Geirangerfjord

Geiranger Fjord is one of nature's masterpieces. Its description as "the world's most beautiful fjord" is no exaggeration and it is amidst this dramatic mountain magic that you'll experience some of our most spectacular sea kayaking. The intense sun brings a tropical-like warmth to the steep mountain walls, as high as 5,000 feet, where farms perched on rocky ledges tell tales of children and animals that had to be tethered so they would not fall over the steep cliffs. The Seven Sisters and other cascading waterfalls are truly magnificent and a kayak is, without a doubt, the best way to experience Mother Nature's overpowering command in Geiranger Fjord. The fjord basin curves between towering mountain peaks so is virtually free from wind: a beautiful place every day of the year. Glide along the steep mountain walls where sunshine reflects an incomparable beauty, 2 " 2.5 hour guided sea kayak excursion will take you out to Geiranger fjord's Preacher's Pulpit, where you will see the magnificent Seven Sisters Waterfall, alone the way your guide will tell you stories and the history of Geiranger and it's people. 2 person kayaks are being used and all the instruction necessary for all ages, families included, seeking a dramatic paddling experience, will be provided. There is no kayaking experience required our well trained guides will teach you all you need to know.

Notes Guests should be in generally good physical condition and not suffer from any back problems. You must be able to swim. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity. All adventures and prices in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures program are subject to change.

Visit A Mountain Farm

We start by driving the "Eagle's Road" - the only means of communication with the outside world during the wintertime! The "Eagle's Bend" is a wide curve from where there is a splendid views to the fjord below and the mountain world all around. We get a glimpse of the "Seven Sister's" waterfall in the distance as well as some of the abandoned mountain farms clinging to the sheer cliff sides. We soon reach Eidsdal village on the Norddalsfjord and follow the shores on to the village of Norddal. Now we leave the fjord and drive up the valley until we reach the summer farm Herdalssetra, situated at approx. 5000 ft above sea level. The setting is picturesque and during the summer months some 450 goats roam freely, as well as cows, sheep and fjord horses; the blond pony native to the West coast. Goat cheese is being produced; both white and brown, and we can follow some of the procedure. The 30 small, wooden houses with turfed roofs were built under the mighty peak called Heregga, away from the annual avalanches. We get an introduction to cheese making and of course tasting of samples.... On the way down the valley once more we can admire the lovely HerdU¸la River, cascading in several impressive waterfalls. We reach Eidsdal and return to Geiranger via the Eagle's road.

Notes Guests must be able to walk approximately 0.25 mile over even and grassy surfaces with 2 to 5 steps. Comfortable, non-slip shoes are recommended. Note that the animals are moved up to the summer grazing when the snow melts. The tour will visit the home farm if snow conditions do not permit our visit to the summer farm. A minimum participation is required to operate all Yachting Land Adventures and some have limited capacity. All adventures and prices in the SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures program are subject to change.

Marstrand

Marstrand Town And Carlsten Fortress

Sweden's west coast is her sunshine coast and has become the most popular holiday region in the country. The area is dotted with picturesque fishing villages, inlets and idyllic coastal resorts. On foot we will tour the small medieval town, dominated by the 17th century Carlstens Fortress. Marstrand has a very special, turn of the century character, its white wooden houses decoratively carved and its cobbled streets smoothed by centuries of foot traffic. Marstrand is a sailing town par excellence and the harbour throngs with boats of all sizes, shapes and colours. After our stroll through the town there is a rather steep 200 yard walk up to the Carlstens Fortress. For more than 300 years has this huge grey guardian protected the little wooden town below. It used to be associated with war, imprisonment and fear. Today we only think of it as a place of fantastic parties and banquets. Take also the opportunity to enjoy the amazing view from the top of the hill. The guided walk at the fortress is conducted by a special fortress guide, dressed in a uniform as it looked when the fortress was still in the fortress business.

Oslo Highlights (and Secrets)

Our tour will cover both well-known and little-known unique highlights of this city on the fjord of 600,000 inhabitants. Holmenkollen Ski Jump: The Holmenkollen ski jump was rebuilt for the 2011 World Championships and is the most modern ski jumping arena in the world. The best jumpers fly almost 500 feet to land at the bottom of the hill. Try to imagine how brave(or crazy) you would have to be to participate in this sport ! Holmenkollen hill also offers a spectacular view of the Oslofjord and parts of the city. Vigeland Sculpture Park: This unique park covers 80 acres and features 212 bronze and granite sculptures. In the space of thirty years the Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland created - on commission from the city of Oslo - his own world of sculpture. Centrally placed is the monolith with 121 naked human bodies fighting their way upwards. Viking Ship House: The museum out on the peaceful Bygdoy peninsula houses authentic Viking ships that were excavated from burial mounds from the Viking age. The well-preserved vessels serve as an excellent example of the Viking Period's ship-building craftsmanship. The Gokstad ship is a typical seagoing ship, while the Oseberg ship from about 800AD is richly adorned and was probably used for ceremonial.purposes. In addition there is a collection of household implements found during the excavations of the ships, which took place during the last part of the 19th century. Emanuel Vigeland Museum: An exclusive visit. Emanuel Vigeland Museum at Slemdal is one of Oslo's best kept secrets. The museum's main attraction is a barrel-vaulted room, completely covered with fresco paintings. The 800 sq.m. fresco Vita depicts human life from conception till death, in dramatic and often explicitly erotic scenes.. Emanuel Vigeland (1875-1948), Gustav Vigeland's younger brother, erected the building in 1926, intended as a future museum for his sculptures and paintings. He eventually decided that the museum should also serve as a mausoleum. All the windows were closed and his ashes were put to rest in an urn above the entrance door. After a brief drive past other city highlights, the tour ends at the pier.

Stavanger

Lysefjord And The Pulpit Rock

We were originally planning to offer a tour up this impressive fjord by catamaran sightseeing boat. But then, in typical SeaDream yachting style, the Captain suggested we take the yacht into the Lysefjord after our departure from Stavanger. That way everybody can enjoy the Lysefjord and the Pulpit Rock which may be one of the most impressive sights of all of the Norwegian fjords. The well-known protruding rock formation called "the Pulpit" is situated on the north side of the fjord and our yacht will pass underneath while you enjoy pre-dinner cocktails.

Duration 3 hours

Traces Of The Viking Age

The area around the city of Stavanger is recognised as the heart of what became the Norwegian Viking kingdom. It was here that the first kings of a unified Norway lived after Harald Haarfagre (the Fairhaired) in 872 defeated the last of the regional princes and united 29 small kingdoms under one crown. We start our tour by driving through the center towards the outskirts, passing fertile land on the way to Ullandhaug where we visit reconstructed farmhouses from the Iron Age. In one of the low houses with turf roof we learn more about the living conditions around the year 500 A.D. A local guide will demonstrate how they made flour, wove their clothes etc. From Ullandhaug viewpoint close by we can observe the fertile farmland of JU¦ren with the Ryfylke mountains as a backdrop. To the West we have a magnificent view over Hafrsfjord, where the Harald Haarfagre's victorius naval battle was fought. We drive on to MU¸llebukta (Mill bay) a popular bathing resort. Here stands the monument "Swords in rock" which was raised to commemorate the unification under King Harald. It consists of three Viking swords more than 9 m high forced into the ground. The monument was by the Norwegian sculptor Fritz RU¸ed. During the excursion we also pass over bridges to some of the islands, which are today part of modern Stavanger. We will see the different types of homes and get an impression of the living conditions nowadays. We pass some of the other city highlights before arriving back at the dock.

Mansions & Monuments

Stavanger and the surrounding areas have for centuries played a leading part in Norway's maritime history, from the time when the viking kings battled in Hafrsfjord, through the period of the "white sails" and the steamships up to modern super-tankers. Stavanger is also the most important "Petroleum city" in Norway due to its geographical position. This tour will introduce some of it's history and scenery, and will include: Breidablikk Mansion " modest as most buildings in Norway compared to abroad " however, it is the best preserved Mansion house in the country - dating from the 1880's, and with authentic interior. The latest member of the family who grew up in the house was the daughter Olga who died in 1965 " and she hardly changed anything, she kept the house and furniture and traditions the way they always been. Ledaal Manor " Royal Residence and Manor House Museum built in 1799/1803 as the summer residence for a prominent local family. Today it serves as a Residence for the Royal Family when they visit Stavanger.
