Ports

  • Civitavecchia (Rome)

One of the largest and busiest ports in the Mediterranean, Civitavecchia is the gateway to Rome. Rome's incredible history spans over 2,500 years. Rome has been awarded on of the most-visited cities in the world. Its historic center is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Monuments and museums such as the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum are amongst the world's 50 most visited destinations. With its unique size SeaDream yachts are generally the first vessel in line at Civitavecchia. On some days, nine ships of various sizes can be seen in this busy port of call. It has come to our attention that some local taxi drivers at the airport may tell you that you can embark earlier than the scheduled 2:00 PM. Please note that this information is false and we kindly ask you to make your arrangements accordingly in order to avoid arriving at the pier prior to 2:00 PM. We thank you for your understanding. Some limo and transfer companies found on the web may not have the proper permits to enter the inner port area. Please double check with your service provider to see if they can actually take you all the way to the yacht. In some cases you may be dropped off at the port entrance and would need to take a shuttle bus with your luggage. Our Destination Specialists “DDP Incentive” have prepared pre and post voyage options for your consideration. Please check http://www.ddpincentive.it/972/Rome For more information. They are also happy to arrange your transfers, hotels and any personalized adventure for you. Please e-mail Francesca@ddpincentive.it Should you wish to call them directly please try; +39 0654 31288.

  • Bonifacio, Corsica

Bonifacio is one of our favorite arrivals! As we approach the captain generally navigates along the limestone cliffs giving guests a sea view of incredible Bonifacio as well as the famous Aragon steps leading to the water’s edge. Shortly after the pilot will embark and the captain will turn the yacht around and back in this very impressive fjord like marina. This could be one of our highest rated arrivals as the guests always find it both impressive and awe inspiring. Guests will enjoy strolling the marina as well as exploring the upper town. To make it easy, SeaDream has arranged a land adventure that will give you the highlights from both land and sea. Other options include golf at the incredibly scenic Sperone course, Kayaking, a boat adventure to the neighboring island of Lavezzi or a hike or bike ride with the crew and officers.

  • Porto Cervo Marina, Sardinia

Porto Cervo is an Italian seaside resort in northern Sardinia in an area called the Costa Smeralda (Emerald coast). SeaDream is most likely the only commercial vessel allowed to call to this amazing port of call. There have been several restrictions navigating and calling to ports within the protected national park zone. The best solution rather than anchoring was to get permission to dock next to the other super yachts “stern to” (backing into the pier using the marina platform to access to the port). The village is the main centre of the Costa Smeralda. It was created by Prince Karim Aga Khan and various other investors. The village houses some amazing boutiques, a newsagent, bars, restaurants and supermarkets. Guests like to visit incredible properties such as Cala di Volpe, Patrizza, Romazzino as well as the Pevero Golf Club for some incredible golf and tennis options. SeaDream’s Land adventure takes guests to all the sights of the Costa Smeralda.

  • Trapani, Sicily

Trapani is a city on the west coast of Sicily in Italy and was founded by Elymians. SeaDream docks in the center of town and allows incredible access for strolling into town or meeting the motor coach for the scheduled land adventures. The city is still an important for fishing and is the main gateway to the nearby Egadi Islands. This Carthaginian and later Roman city is an exciting gateway to Sicily's historic, gastronomic and natural attractions, offering access to beautiful medieval towns as well as Greek archaeological sites. We highly recommend that you participate on one of our interesting land adventures (please click on the land adventures tab for more information) and not miss the amazing sites located about 30 minutes by road from Trapani including Erici, Segesta, Marsala and more.

  • Porto Empedocle (Agrigento), Sicily

Porto Empedocle is a town and comune in Italy on the coast of the Strait of Sicily. Kindly do not judge the destination for what you could witness here. This port is the closest outlet to one of the best preserved Greek sites on the planet and has been rightfully awarded Unesco Heritage Site Status. The ancient Greek city and temples of Agrigento. Located only a few miles inland from the port and known for its mild climate even in the “cold season,” the Greeks choose their location wisely in an exceptionally fine natural setting with stunning views of the Mediterranean countryside. We hope you will join us on this adventure and, following your walk through history, you may wish to take advantage of the SeaDream marina for the rest of the afternoon for a refreshing swim (depending on the daily conditions and approval from the local authorities). Don’t forget to bring your camera; the massive Doric temples and their columns make for very impressive photos. Other options include golf at the Verdura golf and spa resort as well as a visit to the new Agrigento and the ancient city of Eraclea Minoa.

  • Marina De Ragusa, Sicily

  • Valletta

Valletta, The Fortress City, is Malta's capital city: a living, working city, the administrative and commercial heart of the Islands. Valletta is named after its founder, the respected Grand Master of the Order of St. John, Jean Parisot de la Valette. The magnificent fortress city grew on the arid rock of Mount Sceberras peninsula, which rises steeply from two deep harbours, Marsamxett and Grand Harbour. Ottoman forces numbering 40,000 laid siege to the island from May to September, 1565, without success. The heavily outnumbered force of 700 knights and around 8000 Maltese regular troops took refuge in the fortified town on the Grand Harbour. Started in 1566, the city of Valletta was completed, with its impressive bastions, forts and cathedral, in the astonishingly short time of 15 years. The city is busy by day, yet retains a timeless atmosphere. The grid of narrow streets boasts some of Europe's finest art works, churches and palaces. Walking around Valletta you'll come across an intriguing historical site around every corner: votive statues, niches, fountains and coats of arms high up on parapets. Narrow side streets are full of tiny quaint shops and cafes, while Valletta's main streets are lined with larger international branded shops for fashion, music, jewellery and much more.

  • Taormina (Etna) Sicily

SeaDream yachts anchor in the bay of Giardini Naxos and offer fantastic views of recently awarded UNESCO Natural Site of Mt. Etna (2013) as well as Taormina perched on the cliffside. Shuttle bus service has been arranged to transport guests from Giardini Naxos to the entrance gate of Taormina town. For the SeaDream active guests, office led hikes and bike rides could also transport you to Taormina town or continue up to Castelmola which provides amazing views of the surrounding areas. Perhaps the “must do” adventure here would be to ascent Mt. Etna with your fellow SeaDreamers. Kindly check the Land Adventure tab for the specifics. Other options include an incredible and authentic feast at the Godfather Villa. This “SeaDream Excusive” Land Adventure requires a high minimum to operate but it’s worth every penny! As we are anchored and if conditions allow, we will offer water sports both in the morning and in the afternoon. Multo Bene!

  • Lipari, Sicily

Lipar, Sicily is the largest of the Aeolian group of seven islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea off the northern coast of Sicily. Everyone should check out the fortified castello as well as the Aeolian Archaeological Museum. The island was for centuries the world centre for pumice production, and although the mining has left scars on the hillsides, it has also deposited the finest white pumice dust on the sea bed. The water off Spiaggia Bianca (White Beach) is as clear and as turquoise as in the Bahamas and Caribbean. There’s also black sand beaches on the island as well. SeaDream has arranged a Pizza Demonstration as a Land Adventure option as well as the Island Overview. Water sports in the crystal waters is also a great activity option.

  • Stromboli, Sicily - scenic navigation

On certain routes, SeaDream has planned to stop late evening so guests can view and hear the power and beauty of this active volcano. Stromboli is one of 8 small islands in the Aeolian group in Tyrrhenian Sea. It’s located just off the north coast of Sicily, containing one of the three active volcanoes in Italy. It has been almost constantly erupting in some manor for the past 200 years. Some refer to this island as the "Lighthouse of the Mediterranean".

  • Positano

Positano is one of the most picturesque villages along the Unesco awarded Amalfi Coast (Costiera Amalfitana), in Campania, Italy. The town itself is perched on an enclave on the face of a hill and winds down towards the sea. This incredible setting has been enjoyed by writers, movie stars and millions of tourist each year. John Steinbeck visited in the 50s and stated “Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.” The movie Under the Tuscan Sun and several others have been shot on location here. Besides the incredibly romantic vies, it offers excellent shopping, nice beach, hiking opportunities and a few world recognized and award winning hotels such as Le Sirenuse and Il San Pietro di Positano amongst others. As large coaches cannot navigate down to the pier, only private arrangements are available here. You can book a very nice sedan or van to take you to the neighboring villages or even to Pompeii. As SeaDream anchors just of the pier, you may have the opportunity to access the yachts marina and water toys (conditions and local approval permitting).

  • Sorrento (Pompeii)

Sorrento is a small town in Campania just south of Naples in southern Italy. It is an extremely popular tourist destination which can be reached easily from Naples and Pompeii, as it lies at the south-eastern end of the Circumvesuviana rail line. The town overlooks the Bay of Naples and is considered the key place of the Sorrentine Peninsula, it allows many viewpoints including Naples, Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri and Ischia. The most popular attraction from here and the absolute “must do” would be to visit the Unesco Heritage Site of Pompeii. Other Land Adventure options include a “hands on” cooking class at the Villa Ida and by special request, you can take a speed bout around the peninsula to Nerano to dine at the Quattro Passi. SeaDream provides a shuttle service to transfer guests from the marina to Piazza Tasso (Main square), although several also take the more active route – the stairs. There’s loads of sites and shopping opportunities here as well as great restaurants, cafes and pizzerias. Perhaps we even have a surprise activity for you as well?

  • Capri

Capri may very well be the most popular island on the planet? It is a beautiful Italian island in the Tyrrhenian Sea just off the Sorrentine Peninsula, on the south side of the Bay of Naples. Capri town is the island's main population center. The island has two harbors, Marina Piccola and Marina Grande (the main port of the island). The separate village of Anacapri is located high on the hills to the west. From there visitors can continue up to the highest point Mt. Solero. Besides some simply amazing shopping boutiques, the island has so much to offer including the ever popular Grotta Azzura, Villa Jovis, Giardini di Augusto, Certosa di San Giacomo, Villa San Michele di Axel Munthe and the uniquely shaped Faraglioni rocks. SeaDream has put together most of the sights into one adventure called “Discovering the Island of Love” Kindly check the Land Adventures tab for more information. There’s also some great hikes available on the island, check with the activities team on board for more information.

  • Bonifacio, Corsica - The White City by Train & Boat

    Description

This fun, varied and interesting land adventure is an annual favorite among our guests. It is an excellent opportunity to not only get to know your way around for independent explorations later in the day but your knowledgeable and experienced guide will provide you with a historic insight and context to let you appreciate this beautiful town to its fullest. Begin your visit with a mini-tram ride which will take you up to the oldest part of Bonifacio to provide you with a quick overview of this charming town, passing the Bosco quarter with the St. Francis convent and the strange, but fascinating cemetery dedicated to the mariners with wonderful mausoleums displaying a jumble of architectural styles. On clear day you may also enjoy a panoramic view of Corsica's closest neighbor the Italian island, Sardinia. Then pass the church St Dominique, a rare example of Corsican gothic architecture, built in 1270, most probably by the Templars. Following the orientation by mini-tram, continue your visit of Bonifacio on foot through tiny, narrow streets bordered with high granite houses. Pass the church of St. Marie Majeure, with its mixture of Romanesque and Baroque styles dated from 14th century. Continue through the heart of the historical part of town to the Two Emperors street where Napoleon Bonaparte and Charles V spent a few days, the Place des Armes, the Jardins des Vestiges and then to the old market where there is a viewpoint over the 230 ft. cliffs on top of which Bonifacio has been built! Return to the mini-train for the journey from the Citadel back to the port, where a local boat stands ready to show you the grottos at the base of the white cliffs. Catch a glimpse of the clearness of the water and, weather condition permitting, enter the magnificent Grotto Sdragonatu the largest of the three caves, which resembles the shape of Corsica. Inside you discover the beautiful colors of amethyst, indigo and gold, the clear water and the rock walls with stalactites and arches. Continue your visit, passing St Antoine and St Barthelemy Caves, the staircase of the King of Aragon carved in the limestone cliffs. Looking south you may even have the opportunity to see Corsica's closest neighbor the Italian island Sardinia, located about 14 kms/9 miles, off in the distance. After this boat ride of about 45 minutes, return to the pier and your SeaDream yacht.

    Description

Board the local boat for an unforgettable trip along the extraordinary coastline of Bonifacio. Discover the dramatic sight of the citadel and the upper town; you will get the best perspective of its buildings overhanging the magnificent chalky cliffs which look like they are about to topple into the sea. Onboard the motor boat you will navigate out through the narrow harbor entrance called the Goulet, passed the deep rocky inlets with their clear aquamarine waters and the magical Grotte du Sdragonatu which is entered through a narrow and low passage. The cave with its gloriously colored seabed is a single huge chamber with a hole in the roof shaped like a map of Corsica Further along; reach the Lavezzi Island from which the whole archipelago gets its name and which is formed by a group of small barren uninhabited granite islands located 10km southeast of Bonifacio. One hour will be allocated to enjoy its beautiful shell sandy beaches and azure colored sea and to linger on this island which is classified as a nature reserve since 1982. The island is home to several rare species of wild flowers such as yellow-horned poppy and white sea daffodil. • Sorrento (Pompeii) - Fascinating Pompeii, with a "Whisper"

    Description

SeaDream is pleased to advise you that in order to enhance your visit to this incredible site, your local guide will speak to you directly through the use of an audio head set, referred to as a "whisper". It allows you to listen to the wonderful detailed commentary of your excellent guides without straining to hear over other visitors and noises. We hope you will take advantage of this technology and join your fellow SeaDreamers on this unforgettable visit. From the SeaDream quay in Sorrento, travel along the panoramic coastline to the remarkably well-preserved ruins of Pompeii. Originally settled by indigenous people before the 8th century BC, and later ruled by Etruscans, Greeks, and Samnites, Pompeii became a thriving commercial center under Roman rule. It was a city full of shops, markets and town houses, with paved streets, wide sidewalks, a stadium, two theaters, temples and baths. Then, shortly after noon on August 24 in 79AD, live cinder and ash from Mount Vesuvius covered the entire city. The community of 30,000 people was embalmed. The material thrown out by the volcano was lighter than lava and enabled the city to be covered, with architectural detail, furnishings, household articles, and even foodstuffs and artwork preserved intact. Walk through the streets rutted by chariot tracks, past the ancient forum, the homes of the wealthy, and the shops of the common man. Caught in the moment of death, view body casts of the eruption's victims seemingly come alive in their struggle for breath, their desire to protect loved ones and their doomed attempts to escape. Those who visit Pompeii cannot help but be amazed and moved by this remarkable ruin and the story it tells of a city captured at the height of its power and the moment of its death.

Thence different domination followed, as the Romans, the Vandals and the Byzantines. When the city fell to the Muslim they called it Marsa-Allah (Port of Allah). The Normans took Marsala in the 1072 and rebuilt the castle and constructed churches and convents. The town of Marsala is also famous for a dessert wine, that it is named after it. In 1990, Al Pacino and Sophia Coppola came here when they shot some scenes of the film "The Godfather III". • Porto Cervo Marina, Sardinia - Costa Smeralda Golf at Pevero Golf Club

    Description

Pevero Golf Club: an extraordinary position for an equally extraordinary golf course. Everything is special starting from the design by Robert Trent Jones, who, at the beginning of the Seventies (in 1978, Pevero Golf Club hosted the renowned Italian Open), implemented a very exclusive course scattered with terrible hazards created by nature itself more than by man and with a strong wind often blowing across it. Before, the whole area between Cala di Volpe and Golfo del Pevero was completely covered by the typical Mediterranean bushes, by rocks and natural ponds; it would have been a shame if he had destroyed this beauty. So, he have just removed some areas where the vegetation was too thick. The Pevero is considered one of the most beautiful courses in the world, is second to none thanks to the spectacular foreshortenings taken from the magnificent Costa Smeralda, stretching from Porto Rotondo to Porto Cervo. The view from the club house over the gulf of Pevero and the bay of Cala di Volpe are unforgettable. http://www.golfclubpevero.net/eng/

In a recent UK National Paper, Casa Rocca Piccola was described as offering "a unique chance to see inside one of the last private unconverted Valletta palaces still in use as a private home today. Its history goes back over 400 years to an era in which the Knights of St. John decided to build themselves a prestigious city to rival other European capitals: Valletta. The first owner of the house was an Admiral of the Order of St. John and it was sold later to a Maltese nobleman. Allow a member of the De Piro Family to guide you through the rooms and you will hear some intimate and interesting stories of various precious pieces of furniture, paintings, silverware and personal memorabilia. Description

North Course - Parkland. 18-hole Gary Player Signature Design. Completely different to the Piras "Links", the Gary Player "Parkland" nestles among the wild olives and carobs typical of the Ragusa countryside, found all around up to the slopes of the plateau that continues up to Ragusa. The holes are well spread over the landscape and this is a feature of the course, making the player feel like he is completely surrounded by nature. The stone walls typical of the area, glimpses of which can be seen next to many of the holes, complement the course's features. Few sand obstacles along the tree-lined fairways, insidious greens well defended by deep bunkers close to the putting surface. Each successive hole is very different, requiring new golfing solutions and strategies. The 18 holes give onto an archaeological site and one hundred meters from hole 6 you can visit a 6th century B.C. Greek necropolis which is part of the property. A "wet" zone between holes 2 and 3 provides a stopover for animals and birds while 2 lakes frame the last few holes.
