| Alotau, Milne Bay | Historic migration patterns show eastward movement from the Malay Peninsula and the Indonesian Archipelago. When they reached New Guinea, Papua New Guinea's (PNG) largest island, the newcomers established coastal communities – the oldest artifacts date back nearly 50,000 years. The sea sustained them, and there were only a few scattered communities in the highlands for the first 10,000 years. Milne Bay province, the easternmost edge of the big island, represents traditional New Guinea life. There are no tourist stands – just unspoiled villages and unique PNG culture. |
| Kitava, Trobriand Islands | Nature used all her colors when she painted the Trobriand Islands – where tradition is modern life. An annual festival in the remote archipelago honors the yam, an important local staple, as well as the God who makes yams possible – just in case. Magic is the medicine of the region and little about local lifestyle has changed during the period of recorded history. Teen-aged boys adorn themselves with an elaborate feather headdress as part of the coming of age ritual, and women shave their heads to indicate they are in mourning. |
| Tami Island | During a brief 1920s gold rush, the Huon Gulf welcomed a mass of hopeful prospectors. Representing PNG's Morobe Province, the region is governed from Lae – perhaps a familiar place among history buffs. In 1937, pioneer American aviator Amelia Earhart took off from Lae on the final part of her historic flight. Scheduled to stop at tiny Howland Island, 3,000 miles away in the Pacific Ocean, she was never seen again. The tiny Tami Islands, just off the squat peninsula, consist of 4 atolls that host a pair of charming villages. |
| Jayapura | New Guinea is the world's second largest island after Greenland, and Indonesia's largest province, Irian Jaya is the island's western half. The province accounts for 22% of Indonesian land, but sections are still only accessible by hiking several days. Jayapura ('City of Victory') is a bustling modern capital. Verdant Cyclops Mountain towers majestically above the port and there are inviting white sand beaches nearby. Established as the Dutch colonial port of Hollandia in 1910, the name was changed to Jayapura when western New Guinea joined Indonesia in a 1969. SeaDream Land Adventure participants will explore the city and its Spiritual roots. |
| Sepik River-Watam Village | The life-giving Sepik River nurtures Papua New Guinea. All at once, the 700-mi/1,130-km river is water supply, central highway, nutrient distributer, and revered life-giving benefactor. The small village of Watam, near the Sepik's mouth, has about 300 residents. Theirs is a traditional clan-based society, each group with its own leader. One chieftain serves as the ultimate village authority. The arrival of visitors is still something of an occasion, so expect a warm welcome – with plenty of colorful ceremony to celebrate the event. Shop for colorful handicrafts ashore. |

| Banda Neira, Moluccas | A glimpse of Banda Neira’s (aka, Banda Naira) striking natural beauty leaves you with no doubt about why Dutch colonists erected imposing Fort Belgica above the harbor to defend it. In fact, the fort, as well as its smaller companion, Fort Nassau, was originally a Portuguese construction. But the colonial town –the only developed harbor in the Banda Archipelago – is unmistakably Dutch. The nine other Banda Islands are sometimes called ‘the Spice Islands’ – according to legend, they are the source of mace and nutmeg. |
| Larantuka | Flores is a Portuguese word that means flowers but it is a wonder the island name stuck. The island is certainly fertile, but there are few wild flowers in the countryside. Portuguese influence persists, so like their West Timor neighbors, the people of Flores are predominantly Christian. The island is 220 mi/355 km long, but the main road is twice that long. Relentlessly undulating terrain accounts for the difference. Larantuka, the tiny capital of East Flores Regency, is nestled snugly between the sea and looming Gunung (volcano) Ile Mandiri. |
| Komodo Island | Komodo Island is best known for its indigenous Komodo Dragons – considered the last of their kind. Known locally as ora, the giant monitor lizards can grow to more than 9 ft/2.75 m and 300 lbs/136 kg. All monitor lizards, so named for their natural association (monitor in the sense of 'detection') with the presence of crocodiles, are big animals. More important, however, Komodo Dragon jaws are powerful and both teeth and talons are as sharp as razor blades. Their saliva hosts a deadly bacterium that quickly disables prey. SeaDream guests will have the unique opportunity to meet Komodo Dragons accompanied by a Park Ranger. |

| Cairns, Queensland, | Cairns is a cosmopolitan city with a population of approximately 140,000 that is very focused on the tourism industry. This city also happens to be the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and very popular with international tourists. Japanese tourists are especially catered for, with many shops' signs being written in Japanese, as well as in English. The city is surrounded by rainforest and can be used as a gateway to destinations such as Kuranda and the Daintree. Besides tourism, the city is supported by agricultural activities which include sugar cane, bananas, coffee, tea and the world's first tropical fruit wine region. SeaDream will be docked in the center of town to welcome our arrivals. For guests in transit, we have several Land Adventures options for your exploration of the city. |
| Bali (Benoa) | The aroma of fragrant spice leads you to Bali's shores. The tiny clove-scented island off Java's southeastern tip is steeped in tradition, and unique Balinese Hindu-animist faith is on full display. Although Besakih is the mother shrine (Ulun Danu, Tanah Lot and Goa Lawah are also notable), even the island's tiniest villages have at least one temple. But Bali displays a second nature – especially in the south around the areas of Kuta Beach and Nusa Dua. Here, visitors worship another spirit – the Goddess who presides over a delightful land of luxurious decadence. SeaDream is offering several active Land Adventures at Benoa. Enjoy a challenging round of golf, take a painting lesson or learn some exciting new cooking techniques from a master chef. |

Komodo is one of the 17,508 islands that make up the Republic of Indonesia. The island is famous for the unique fauna which roam the Komodo National Park. Komodo Island Diving At Pink Beach
Our dive site at Pink Beach is called Pantai Merah by local people. The naming describes the place well: it has red colored sand. This Komodo diving site is part of Komodo Island's shoreline. It is probably the most well-known Komodo dive site as you have to pass this dive site when you want to see the fiery dragons from the park station Generally, the dive site is a good place with clear water. Pink Beach is between 5 and 30m deep with visibility between 8 and 25m. Sometimes it sees occasional current of 0-1 knot, with rather stronger current flows in the area between Punya Island and Komodo Island. The current represents the transition between the temperate water in the south and the tropical water of the north Marine life is rich here with the schooling fish, fusiliers, as the dominant species. When you go deeper, you find pelagic such as snapper, trevallies, and sweetlips. At around 25m, the coral outcrops drops rather slightly. Around the corals, we can find reef fish like cardinal, butterfly, damselfish, grouper, angel, batfish, anthias, wrasse, surgeon, parrot, box, trigger, porcupine, and puffer. Flounder, Moray, Gobies, Frogfish, Eels and Leaf fish are permanent bottom dwellers at this Komodo diving site. Octopus, shrimp and crabs are easily visible. Snakes and turtles are rarely visible here as well as the rays and sharks " but sometimes you can meet white tip shark.

Friendly Larantuka
Larantuka is a quaint little seaport in a beautiful setting on the east end of Flores Island. The people of Flores are very outgoing and friendly. Our tour will give us an overview of the local area. Larantuka is one of the more secluded areas in east part of Indonesia. However, history records that this is the first place visited by European traders. Like much of the region, Larantuka has a strong a colonial Portuguese influence. On our tour bus we depart Larantuka port and drive to Mudakeputu Village. Here we can see the process of making hand weaving and we will be entertained with a traditional dance performance. Our next stop is at the local traditional market where we can see the sale of local produce such as fresh agricultural produce and arts and crafts. You might find an interesting souvenir here. Larantuka was a Portugese colony for more than 300 years and the Catholic influence is still strong. We will visit the most historical church in Larantuka, the Tuan Ma Church. Tuan Ma means Mother Mary. We can explore and learn the church history before return to Larantuka Port.
