Ticked Mount Kilimanjaro off the list? Now it’s time to tackle Ladakh and Stok Kangri in India

Stok Kangri

Embark on an exhilarating trekking expedition through Ladakh in North East India. Expect breathtaking views of Himalayan panoramas of snow-capped peaks, sweeping high-altitude plains dotted with ancient villages and even rare wildlife such as the elusive snow leopard. Participants will summit Stok Kangri, one of the ‘easiest’ 6000m peaks in the world because it does not require technical climbing experience – but it does require good physical fitness. Views of the sunrise following a night-time ascent of Stok Kangri (6153m) are truly magical. Departing 18 August and 8 September 2014, the trip costs from £2,149 pp (two sharing) and includes 12 nights’ accommodation (six nights’ camping and six nights’ hotel), flights (London), transfers, most meals, camping equipment (except sleeping bag and sleeping mat), entry to sites listed in the itinerary and Discover Adventure support team.

Pyrenees coast-to-coast cycling trip – and watch the Tour de France 2014

Silver-Cyclist 3

Cycle the mountains made famous by the Tour de France – and stop to witness this famous event as it passes over the Col de Portet d’Aspet on its first day in the Pyrenees. This cycling trip is a tough journey from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean coast, setting off from France’s most south-westerly town, Hendaye, and finishing at Argeles sur Mer in the south of France. Participants will take a well-earned rest on day six to see the world’s greatest cyclists take part in the Tour de France.  Departing 17 July 2014, the trip costs from £1,574 pp (two sharing) and includes eight nights’ hotel accommodation, most meals, airport transfers and Discover Adventure support team (flights extra).

Trek the Chapada Diamantina National Park and visit Salvador and Rio de Janeiro

Chapada Diamantina

Brazil is a hot destination for 2014, hosting one of the world’s most popular sporting tournaments next year - the 2014 FIFA World Cup (held 12 June to 13 July).  Experience this colourful country by trekking the remote trails of the Chapada Diamantina National Park, set in Bahia in North East Brazil and boasting spectacular natural beauty, over six days. Stay in friendly homestays and take in the dramatic flat-topped mountains, waterfalls plunging down cliff-sides, blue pools and lush rainforest. Participants spend the rest of the trip sightseeing in the famous cities of Salvador and Rio de Janeiro. Departing 27 September 2014, the trip costs from £2,399 pp (two sharing) and includes ten nights’ accommodation (hotels, guesthouses and home stays), international (London) and domestic flights (Salvador to Rio de Janeiro), most meals, entry to sites listed in the itinerary and Discover Adventure support team.

Mark the 70th anniversary of WW II by walking the Pyrenees Freedom Trail

Freedom Trail

Trek the Pyrenees along the ‘Freedom Trail’ from France to Spain - one of the WW2 escape routes followed by thousands of allied servicemen and Jewish refugees seeking to flee Nazi-occupied France. Local people risked their lives to help, and walkers will pass plaques and memorials dedicated to their bravery. The trek is arduous and steep, passing through spectacular scenery of cirques, rocky ridges, beech forests and mountain lakes. Walk on remote trails, reaching approximately 2500m before descending into Spain. Departing 28 July and 15 September 2014, the trip costs from £1,049 pp (two sharing) including six nights’ accommodation (family-run hotels, mountain refuges and camping), most meals, flights (London), camping equipment (except sleeping bag and sleeping mat), entrance to any sites visited as part of the itinerary and Discover Adventure support team.

Coast-to-coast cycle across the Sri Lanka Highlands

Sri Lanka Cycle

Sri Lanka is renowned for its natural beauty, fascinating culture and dreamy shorelines. Take it all in on this cycling trip from the North East coast to the South West coast, crossing the central highlands that form the spine of the country. Journey along paddy fields and lowland jungle to the twisting roads of the Knuckles Mountains - passing tea plantations and British hill stations surrounded by cloud forest and waterfalls – with the challenge culminating on an idyllic beach. There’s the chance to witness the medieval ruins of Polonnaruwa and the historic city of Kandy, too. Departing 5 April and 2 October 2014, the trip costs from £1,899 pp (two sharing) and includes nine nights’ accommodation (hotels and guesthouses), flights (London), transfers, most meals, entry to sites listed in the itinerary, bike and Discover Adventure support team.
