HADELAND GLASSWORKS & VIGELAND SCULPTURE PARK
Our tour starts with a drive through the centre of Oslo, passing all the main sights. The Akershus castle, the Parliament Building, the main street "Karl Johan", the national theatre, the university, the Royal Palace, and the Nobel Institute will all be pointed out to you. We continue through suburban areas and through the beautiful farmland of Jevnaker to the Hadeland glassworks. The glass works are situated near the beautiful Randsfjorden Lake in peaceful surroundings. The glassworks was founded in 1762 and is the oldest industrial company in Norway that can claim continuous operation since its foundation. The production of glass at Hadeland Glassverk is still carried out as it was 240 years ago. We will have a guided tour of the glassworks to watch the glassblowers perform their art and will visit the glass museum with its unique collection of glass articles from the beginning of the 18th century up till today. In the glass shop you may purchase some of the products at reduced prices. Lunch will be served in the historic restaurant. The return drive to Oslo will be along the scenic Tyrifjord lake and through pleasant residential areas. Before returning to the yacht, we will pay a short visit to one of Oslo's most unique sights, the Vigeland Sculpture Park. This unique park covers 80 acres and features 212 larger than life bronze and granite sculptures of humans of all ages in their "natural state".
