HIGHLIGHTS OF PHUKET & PANORAMIC VIEW
As you leave the port and drive up to Rang Hill you will enjoy and photograph the panoramic view of Phuket town. Then enjoy sightseeing through an old street of Phuket area where you will see colorful Chinese mansions of Phuket's ancestors. Next, visit Phud Jaw Shrine which is dedicated to Kuan In, Goddess of Mercy. Phud Jaw was built over 200 years ago whereas Jui Tui Shrine, adjacent to Phud Jaw, was in the 1920s so called the oldest and most famous of the Chinese temples in Phuket. Its fame today mainly arises from the Phuket Vegetarian Festival that takes place for nine days in October each year. Continue your journey a Cashew Factory to see how they produce cashew nuts in different flavors as well as its juice. The cashew nut tree originated in the rain forest and in 1901, the former governor general of Phuket brought the seeds of cashew nut into the Southern territory of Siam Kingdom. Your last visit of today is one of the most important temples on the island: Wat Chalong (or Wat Chaiyathararam), a monastery not far from Phuket Town. The temple hall houses bronze statues of the three monks - Luang Por Chaem, Luang Por Gluam and Luang Por Chuang - venerated by the inhabitants of Phuket. People believe that this temple protects the island from harm during World War II, when bombs were dropped on the Andaman region. Return to port to re-embark to the ship via a souvenir shop, if time permits, where you can access to its restroom or search for some souvenirs, local products, handicrafts, pearl or semiprecious stones.
