Larantuka is a quaint little seaport in a beautiful setting on the east end of Flores Island. The people of Flores are very outgoing and friendly. Your Land Adventure will give you an overview of the local area. Larantuka is one of the more secluded areas in the east part of Indonesia. However, history records that this is the first place visited by European traders. Like much of the region, Larantuka has a strong a colonial Portuguese influence. On your motor coach, you and your fellow SeaDreamers depart Larantuka port and drive to Mudakeputu Village. Here you can see the process of making hand weaving and you will be entertained with a traditional dance performance. Your next stop is at the local traditional market where you can see the sale of local produce such as fresh agricultural produce and arts and crafts. You might find an interesting souvenir here. Larantuka was a Portugese colony for more than 300 years and the Catholic influence is still strong. You will visit the most historical church in Larantuka, the Tuan Ma Church. Tuan Ma means Mother Mary. We can explore and learn the church history before return to Larantuka Port.
