Montserrat Then & Now Island Drive
The island of Montserrat has always been blessed with one of the most dramatic Geography's ranging from volcanic peaks that lay dormant for over 400 years to spectacular coastlines. During this land adventure you will discover the dramatic and verdant landscape of this small (12 miles x 7, and expanding!) island and visit its interesting villages (pre and post the eruptions). Nature lovers would revel in getting closer to the scenery, often compared with the lushness of Ireland. The mountainous, volcanic spine of the island offers spectacular vistas, while the slopes and valleys and fertile fields display rich harvests of mango, papaya, coconut and banana. We are planning stops at some of the most interesting viewing points of the Soufriere Hills Volcano, including Isles Bay Hill, the Beverly Hills of Montserrat. At Jack Boy Hill view the scenic east coast and the lava flows that destroyed the islands airport with part of the original runway still visible. Pending on the day of the week, other stops may include Richmond Hill, or the National Trust, exhibiting the history of Montserrat as well as the Montserrat Volcano Observatory. Bring your excitement, sense of adventure and don't forget your camera. .
