Cartagena by Horse Carriage
Departing from the pier in your air-conditioned motor coach, you will begin the land adventure with a panoramic view of the military fort of San Felipe de Barajas. Situated outside the walled city, this monumental fort is considered to be the most outstanding feat of Spanish military engineering in the new world. Its construction began in 1536 and lasted for 121 years At the Rafael Nuñez House a horse carriage will take you through the narrow streets of the walled city, with its colonial houses, squares such as La Merced with the Heredia Theater, Santo Domingo with Gertrudis, the famous sculpture donated by Botero, the Custom square with the City Hall, San Peter with magnificent church and the beautiful baroque door of The Inquisition Palace at Bolivar Square At the end of the land adventure visit of The Dungeons within the walled city ramparts which were built to store provisions for the troops and are now home to a high quality handicrafts market selling brightly decorated cloth, woodwork & woven bags made by some of the indigenous peoples of Colombia. From there, it’s only a short transfer back to your SeaDream yacht.
