Port Name Description
Hai Phong (Hanoi), Vietnam Vietnam's second largest port and third largest city, metropolitan Haiphong is home to nearly two million people. On the south bank of the busy Cua Cam River, a main branch in the Red River Delta system, the port is 75 miles east of Hanoi on the southeast corner of the Bac Bo Delta. The port was just a tiny fishing village when French ships arrived in 1872, but proximity to Hanoi nudged expansion efforts. Contemporary Haiphong is busy, but relaxed. Local free trade zones have attracted international investment. SeaDream offers a Yachting Land Adventure of Hanoi – by traditional pedicab! Or take a shorter excursion to explore Haiphong.
Ha Long Bay, Vietnam Vietnamese tradition embraces legend, so there is a tale about almost every rock in Ha Long Bay. The name means 'descending dragon' and recalls an old legend about a terrible monster defeated by a brave young man. Some of the formations have adopted fanciful names such as Frog Island or Cave of the Virgin, but you can make up your own names – let your imagination soar. More than 3,000 islands and islets rise from the sea like humps on the mythical dragon's back. Dress for changing weather conditions. Join a SeaDream boat excursion in the bay or explore traditional Vietnamese life on a Land Adventure to a nearby village
Da Nang, Vietnam Quang Nam Province is a corset around the slender Vietnamese waist. Known especially for its rich Cham legacy, it is the heartland of pure Vietnamese tradition. Archaeologists have found 2,000-year old human relics in the region and the Champa ruins at My Son, the merchant city of Hoi An, and the Imperial city of Hue offer fascinating glimpses into Vietnam's culture and national origin. The roads can be bumpy, but no matter how you decide to spend your time in the province, expect to be amazed. SeaDream guests land in the center of Da Nang and have a choice of two Yachting Land Adventures at this destination: Visit Hoi An or explore the coastal city of Da Nang.
Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, Vietnam Once part of the Champa Kingdom, Nha Trang came under the influence of Indian immigrants. The Chams were ultimately defeated, but the Champa Era remains as one of the most enlightened periods in Vietnam's long history. Chams nurtured art, letters, and culture, and the Da Nang-Hue-My Son region features some of their finest cultural treasures – distinctive Cham towers are found throughout the coastal region. Modern Nha Trang was established by order of a Nguyen Dynsaty king in 1924. Culture notwithstanding, local beaches draw plenty of visitors. SeaDream Yachting Land Adventures explore Champa heritage sites near the port or take you to a local farm and town market where you can glimpse contemporary life.
Con Dao Island, Vietnam Con Dao islands are a group of 16 islands. The largest island is known as Con Son. Con Dao served as a prison island for political prisoners during the French colonial era, when it was known as Poulo Condore, and in later years the Saigon regime imprisoned opponents of the regime in the infamous cells known as the "tiger cages". The old prison buildings are still standing and are open to the public as is a small museum tracing the island's history. Besides having an interesting history, Con Dao is also an island of immense natural beauty with forested hills, deserted sandy beaches and extensive coral reefs making for some excellent diving. 80% of the land area of the archipelago is a National park offering primary jungle teeming with interesting life such as the endemic black squirrel and the crab eating macaque. Beautiful beaches and hidden lagoons are also to be found here, with very few tourists Con Dao is a paradise off the beaten track.
Ho Chi Minh (Saigon), Vietnam Foreign interests have long coveted Vietnam, the fertile eastern crescent of the squat Southeast Asian peninsula. The (Chinese) Funan Kingdom controlled the Mekong River Delta from the 2nd to the 7th centuries and Vietnam was part of the Khmer Chenla Kingdom thereafter. By 1200AD, Saigon, established at a strategic bend in the Si i Gi²n River, was an important port for the powerful (Cambodian) Angkor Kingdom. Kublai Khan attacked the thriving community in 1284, and later, repeated Chinese invasions plagued the smaller kingdom until the 19th century. SeaDream Land Adventures will explore the Mekong River Delta and the fascinating city of Ho Chi Minh – still known as Saigon to many.
At Sea
Tioman Island (Pulau Tioman) Ancient legend suggests Palau Tioman was once a princess – a magical Dragon Princess in fact. She was minding her own business as she travelled along the Malay peninsula from China to Singapore. She was supposed to visit her prince, but she became weary and stopped to rest. Enchanted by the natural beauty that surrounded her, the beautiful maiden decided to remain, transforming herself into an island so that she might linger for eternity. She must have been very beautiful – if her spectacular island is a gauge.

Hong Kong You may be surprised to learn the amazing powerhouse of human possibility known as Hong Kong was founded on opium trade. Another surprise is its size. Most people think the territory includes only Hong Kong Island and a small portion of the Kowloon peninsula, but Cheung Chau, Lantau, and Lamma – and more than 266 other islands are also included. For its early history, Hong Kong was only a temporary home for nomadic peoples, but it prospered with expanding trade during the Chinese Imperial period. SeaDream Land Adventure participants can learn the art of Tai Chi and explore the secrets of this remarkable city-state.
Singapore Lee Kuan Yew, first and longest reigning Prime Minister of Singapore, stepped down in 1990. Known as 'father of Singapore,' Mr. Lee's guidance unquestionably created an economic marvel and model safe society out of a chaotic post-war, post-colonial state. The rules are tough, but clear. Jaywalkers are fined on the spot. Drop litter – and you pay (smokers beware!). Explore the city-state's impressive modernity and tradition in its architecture. I.M. Pei's striking Gateway and Moshe Safdie's Marin Bay Sands point the way to the future, but don't miss the handsome Old Parliament House.

Nha Trang - Cultural City

The panoramic city tour will lead the guests through the landmarks of Nhatrang City, Long Son Pagoda & Ponagar Cham Tower with fantastic time for shopping at Dam Market, which is full of local specialties. Nha Trang is a small sleepy town spread out along the length of a beautiful sandy beach, with a backdrop of hills and rocky outcrops. Begin the orientation to this coastal capital at the Long Son Temple. Founded in the late 19th century and re-built several times, it is now home to less than ten monks. The entrance and roofs are decorated with mosaic dragons made of glass and ceramic tile. At the top of the hill behind the pagoda is the huge white Buddha, seated on a lotus blossom overlooking the city. Those who choose may climb the 152 stone steps leading to the giant white Buddha. There are superb views of the city from the platforms around the Buddha (almost 5 feet high). The platforms were built in 1963 and dedicated to Buddhist monks and nuns who doused themselves with gasoline and set themselves on fire in protest against the policies of the government in the time of the Diem presidency. Continuing your Land Adventure, walk across Xom Bong Bridge to photograph the abundant fishing boats moored in the shallow Nha Trang Harbor. Boats are painted brightly in blue and red - a colorful sight along the path to Po Nagar Cham Towers. The towers were built between the 7th and 12th centuries on a site used for Hindu worship. Situated on a hill outside the city, it originally included 8 towers, 4 of which still stand. The highest tower (75 feet) was built in 817 in honor of Princess Po Nagar, who had taught weaving and new agricultural technologies to the people of the region. Today, both ethnic Chinese and Vietnamese Buddhists come to Po Nagar to pray and make offerings according to their beliefs. (Shoes should be removed before entering any of the four remaining towers.) Leave the Po Nagar tower for a photo stop at the Chong Promontory. This is one of the most scenic places for photos in Nha Trang. Your licensed guide will tell you how to imagine a great fairy lying on their back in front of your eyes. You may also picture the husband rock and the wife rock. On this promontory, you can also see a few typical old houses of Nha Trang with some locally-made decorative items, and pictures of Nha Trang highlights. The next stop allows time in the largest market in the city, Dam Market. Located on the old big pond that used to connect to the Cai River mount under the Ha Ra Bridge, Dam market is round in shape. There are two floors that could accommodate a thousand people at the same time. Here you will find a large variety of products including local handicrafts, fresh seafood, and an abundance of dried-sea products. Squid, seahorses and lizards are all popular delicacies in Nha Trang. Lastly we include a visit to the XQ Embroidery workshop before ending your land adventure with a drive passed the Front Beach of Nha Trang. The art of embroidery was adopted by the Vietnamese from China long time ago. Nguyen dynasty in Hue developed it and turned it into a unique typical Vietnamese artistic product. Here you will enjoy a cup of green tea or ginger tea before an intensive visit to the entire complex. This offers a great chance for you to admire the hard hand work from the talented Vietnamese ladies. The master art pieces can be purchased at your bargaining. Your Land Adventure starts with a visit of the Ponagar Cham Tower, one of the most scenic places in Nha trang. This complex of Champa towers is located right on the hill next to the Cai River. The towers namely Po Nagar are dedicated to the Divine Lady, the Mother of the Country. The towers were built in the 8th century. However they were destroyed several times by wars. They were nicely renovated in the 12th century and recently by the Vietnamese government. Take a walk from the tower to Cai River boat quay and embark a local boat to cruise on the snaky river. In front of you is Coconut Island with lots of? You guessed it, coconut trees. You have a chance to see how the local people pick up coconuts from the tall trees. Enjoy a coconut, taste its sweet juice and get a feeling of the tropical atmosphere on this island. Continue to visit a fishing village where you may have a chance to see local people weaving the fishing nets to prepare for a trip to the sea for fishing. Your next visit is the worksite where the locals specialize in building wooden fishing boats. Local people always decorate two big eyes on both sides of the wooden boats. They believe this is a good way to disguise as another sea animal to avoid attacks from the sea monsters and giant octopus. Your Land Adventure continues visiting a clay-cooked stove family where many clay stoves have been produced. The locals in the countryside still use clay stoves for cooking at home instead of gas stoves. The old stoves cannot be ruined in any way. They bring them to the Cai River and drop them on thousands of rocks at the Cai River estuary. Thereafter, cruise on the Cai River and enjoy the scenic view of both sides. Embark on the mainland for a visit to a local village. Walk in the village to see how local people work and live. You will also have a chance to taste the local tropical seasonal fruits such as mangos, pineapples, rambutans, water melons, bananas, etc… At the end of your journey, return to port by your motor coach.
