Diving at Anita’s Reef of Similan Islands
The Similan National Park is famous for its dive sites. It has typically two different kinds of diving. East side diving consists of gently sloping coral reefs with sandy patches and the occasional boulder in between. The west side is known for its huge underwater granite boulders with numerous swim-throughs. Your diving site today is the most famous east side so-called Anita’s Reef of Island number 5. Your journey starts with a boat ride from the Island no. 4 to the Anita’s Reef. Then the dive starts from a beautiful white sandy slope, along which there is a lot of coral, plenty of fish and sting rays. In the end of the site the scenery changes to big rock formations and reef sharks are common habitats. Your next dive will be West of Eden where the marine life is very rich with moray eels, various species of reef sharks, and turtles. It is also quite common to see large schools of pelagic fish such as Barracudas, giant trevallies, and dogtooth tunas. The critter fan will be delighted with many nudibranches, pipefishes and fire gobies. West of Eden dive site is reserved to intermediate to experienced divers as current can be sometimes strong. Your boat will return to Island no. 4 after your diving.
